Happy Valley Croquet Club
Welcome to Happy Valley Croquet Club.
The big news for 2022 is that we have increased the lawn to a full size lawn - 35 yards by 28 yards.
We have been actively playing croquet on the farm since our children were small, when we played Nine Wicket Garden Croquet - that's a few years ago, since the kids don't seem to be living at home anymore ... perhaps under some rock I haven't lifted recently ... For a couple of years we dallied with USCA Rules Croquet but now the latest incarnations we play are Six Wicket Association Rules Croquet and Golf Croquet.

The Nerdy Facts
The new lawn is a full size lawn internationally recognized for competition play. The grass is Bentgrass 007 which sounds very Bond and sexy, but isn't unless you rub your cheek on the lawn and ... just saying ... the truth is this grass seed was introduced in 2007. Anyway it is cut at 3/16 inch, making it smooth on the cheek. The hoops are set at a stupid impossible 3 11/16 inch and are carrot based as are used in the UK. Balls are Dawsons. That is the pro stuff. I have hoops and mallets and balls for kids and adult wannabe kids and so just say what you want.

Playing time
Sunday afternoons, or by appointment. Since I am retired, that leaves lots of options. We are open for social events, parties, company team building and charity fund raisers. Please call for details. Rentals for Charity fund raisers are free.
Victoria Croquet Community
Canadian Pacific Lawn Bowling and Croquet Club is the mother ship of our local croquet community. They have been supporting croquet since around 2010. The club activity brought over several high level players from Vancouver to Victoria and then activity rippled out to Victoria Lawn Bowling Club and then outwards to several other lawn bowling clubs. The mutual rewards of sharing lawn bowling with croquet soon becomes obvious with building the membership and volunteer base and sharing the huge piece of real estate that is the perfect flat lawn. The other side of croquet is the small guerrilla groups that play on public land and stay under the radar. There is also a private club that has been active since 1946, and is still taking no new members ... I asked!
